Traditional Braces

Traditional braces use brackets and wires to straighten teeth and improve the function of a person’s bite. They are especially effective in more complex cases when precise control is critical.

Braces Options

Metal Braces

The metal braces we use are lower profile than other braces on the market, making them more comfortable. They also use an advanced system that allows for a greater degree of control and precision when making adjustments, leading to a better overall result.

Clear Ceramic Braces

Clear ceramic braces work similarly to metal braces, but offer a more discreet option. We use GC Chic Ceramic Braces, because they blend in really well with people’s natural teeth color, maintain their clarity throughout treatment, and don’t stain.

Champagne Braces

Champagne braces use low-profile, stainless steel brackets, giving them the same durability as traditional metal braces. The difference is a soft aesthetic metal finish that blends in more with a person's natural tooth color, making them a more discreet option. These braces are unique to Cardall Orthodontics in Bakersfield.

If you decide you’re ready to start, we can often place your braces the same day as your free exam. The appointment is usually just a little over an hour.

What Braces Can Help Correct

More complex cases that require precision
Crowding or spacing issues
Crooked teeth
Bite issues (overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite, etc.)

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners use a series of clear, custom, removable trays to reposition teeth into healthier alignment. They are great for adults or teens that want a more discreet option and their removability simplifies eating, brushing and flossing.

Our Clear Aligners Are Made In-House

Unlike most practices that rely on Invisalign or other third-party aligner brands, Dr. Cardall’s aligners are designed and produced in our own in-house lab.

What Does This Mean For You?

Better Value

Since we manufacture aligners in-house, we cut out the middleman, and are able to offer clear aligner treatment at a lower cost than many national aligner brands without sacrificing quality.

Doctor-led planning from start to finish

Dr. Cardall handles the process from start to finish. He captures the 3D scans, designs the teeth movement, and oversees every stage of production so your treatment stays consistent and managed by the doctor you know and trust.

Results taken from 99% to 100%

Since aligners can be produced efficiently, Dr. Cardall finishes every case with clear aligners, taking results from “almost perfect” to truly complete.

Advanced Treatments

Orthodontics goes beyond straightening teeth. Our team uses a wide range of advanced treatments and techniques to deliver truly impactful results. From aesthetic refinements, to functional improvements, our goal is to always provide the most complete care possible.

Laser Gum Contouring

(Laser Gingivectomy)

Gums are an important but often overlooked aspect of a person's smile. Sometimes, following orthodontic treatment, a patient's gums will appear uneven after the teeth have shifted into their new positions. When this is the case, laser gum contouring offers a great way to gently reshape the gums, creating a more visually balanced and polished result. We offer this service to all patients who want it at no additional cost after treatment. Our laser gingivectomy is performed after topical anesthetic is placed on the gums, so it is a painless and relatively quick procedure.

Gummy Smile Treatment

(Using TADs)

TADs, short for temporary anchorage devices, offer a non-surgical way to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile. They do this by using tiny anchors in the jawbone that apply a controlled upward force to the teeth, gently and gradually bringing them higher so less of your gums are on display when you smile.

Increase Upper Tooth Visibility

(Incisal Display)

Through advanced orthodontic adjustments we can increase how much a person’s upper teeth show when they smile. Upper tooth visibility contributes a great deal to how youthful and balanced a person's smile appears, which is why this adjustment can make a big impact on the appearance of your final result.

Closing Spaces From Missing Teeth

It’s often automatically assumed that when you’re missing a tooth you need a replacement. However, in some cases, we can actually close the space using orthodontics, reducing the need for implants and prosthetic replacements. When we do this, we ensure that the closure won’t impact the stability of your bite and will leave you with a natural-looking result.

Airway-Enhancing Treatments

Your bite and jaw position can have dramatic effects on your airway. If you snore, have sleep apnea, or have any other breathing-related concerns, we can address them during a consultation to determine the best course of action.

Tongue-Tie Release and Posture Training

If you’re dealing with a lisp or other speech difficulties, it could be a result of your bite alignment or tongue posture. It could also be a result of a tongue-tie, which is a common condition where the tongue doesn't have as much movement as it should. We can work with you to correct your tongue posture and tongue-tie, along with using orthodontic treatments to fix any crossbites or open bites that may be contributing to the speech difficulties.

Difficult Underbites and Open Bites

(Non-Surgical Options)

If you have an underbite or open bite, your first stop doesn’t need to be an oral surgeon. We have extensive experience using modern and advanced orthodontic techniques to correct complex bites using non-surgical methods.

Retainers

After orthodontic treatment, your teeth will naturally want to shift back to their original positions. Retainers help prevent this from happening, ensuring that the result you worked hard for stays intact.

Retainer Options

Clear Retainer

Made from smooth, flexible plastic that is custom fit to your teeth. Clear retainers are precise, removable and typically worn at night.

Fixed or Permanent Retainer

A thin metal wire that is bonded to the back of your teeth (most common on the bottom front teeth). The wire is discreet and is effective at providing continuous support for maintaining teeth alignment.

Retainers Made In-House

Just like our clear aligners, we produce our clear retainers in our in-house lab. This keeps the process straightforward and makes replacements easy.

What Does This Mean For You?

No retainer fees

Retainers are included at no additional charge, along with a one-year warranty. We also offer retainer insurance to provide easy, inexpensive replacement in the event of loss or breakage.

3D-printed models

We create durable 3D-printed models of your teeth instead of using traditional plaster models that break when the retainer is fabricated. We then give you these models to keep--and we store a digital file of your models so they can always be reprinted.

A long-term backup plan

If you move away or go to college, you can bring your 3D model with you. Then if you ever lose or break your retainer, another orthodontic practice will be able to use that model to get you a new one. No need to start from scratch.
